Brothers Horst and Herman Farnbacher started Motorsports already in young years. At first they took part in national rooky races. After many victories and championship titles the younger brother, Horst, decided to do the next step into professional Motorsports. In the following he raced in VW Polo Cup and the Treser Cup, which he won in 1988. In 1990 Horst Farnbacher started in the German Touring Car Trophy, winning five races at all.

The Team Farnbacher Racing was founded at last in 1992 in Lichtenau near Arnsbach (Germany). The first races for the team were those of the Porsche Carrera Trophy. Since 1995 the concentrates on two series, namely the German Porsche Carerra Cup and the Porsche Michelin Supercup. Themed "one unit, one team" the team proved to be an absolute top team in both championships
